Blaise Castle Estate
Blaise Castle Estate is a 650 acre Grade II listed parkland in north-west Bristol. The already hugely popular play area was recently improved with government Play Pathfinder funding.
The main estate entrance is on Kingsweston Road where there is a large free car park (main car park off Kings Weston Road at BS10 7QS). There is a smaller car park off The Dingle at BS9 2PA. The main entrance is also on a bus route. The play area is flat with plenty of paths providing good access for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
The large play area, which is located close to the Kingsweston entrance is split into a play area for younger children and a play area for older children. The facilities for younger children are next to the Blaise café and toilets and include sand play, climbing frames, a slide, swings and picnic area with picnic tables. Close by is a large play area for older children with climbing towers, tube slides, a zip wire, high swings, a tree house climbing frame, basket swing, roundabout, seesaw, trampoline, speaking tubes and picnic benches set in a large area of grass. Both play areas are fenced so dog free.
Other facilities to visit at Blaze Castle Estate include; Blaise Castle House Museum, Blaise Hamlet (National Trust property), Blaise Castle, dairy garden and a lily pond. There are footpaths around the estate and maps of the walking rounds can be downloaded at https://www.bristol.gov.uk/museums-parks-sports-culture/blaise-castle-estate
