Alice Holt Forest and Play Areas
Alice Holt is owned by the Forestry Commission. There are lots of play areas to enjoy –
The Play Wood: children can enjoy climbing on foresters’ ‘machinery’ and the Pirate Ship . There are two accessible items of play equipment, a wheelspin and nest swing to enable children with disabilities to enjoy the playground.
3D Maze: Visit the 3D maze, based on the old forester’s sawmill. Its ladders, passages and winding corridors are spread over 4 floors. With views over the forest and a little playhouse greet you at the top.
Timberline: Timberline is ideal for older children. It offers a circuit of different challenges to overcome, from climbing wall to scramble net, and balancing beam to tunnel.
As well as the parks, there is a walking trail through the woods where you will find forest creatures –
the woodpecker’s home – climb a spiral staircase inside a tree trunk, climb up an owl’s back and see the forest through his eyes, find a bridge guarded by snakes, climb over a bat and moth and crawl through a network of tunnels to feel like a rabbit in a warren or a badger in a sett.
There are toilets and a café on site along with additional options to hire bicycles and go on the Go Ape course. A parking fee is applicable.
