Aireville Park Playground
Aireville park is a large, open park on the outskirts of Skipton. At one end of the park is the swimming baths with pay and display parking, a cafe and toilets (you have to walk past reception but I’ve never heard of someone being stopped). Next to the swimming baths is a skate park, bike bumps and a zip line. At the other side of the park, about a five minute walk away, is a playground split in two, one side for under 5’s and another for up to 12s. The under 5’s parks has swings, see-saws and a climbing frame with slide, while the up to 12’s has swings, a climb on round-about and a larger climbing frame with slide. There’s plenty of seating and some tables for picnicking. At this end of the park there is also access to the Leeds-Liverpool canal and from there the centre of town.
Apart from the facilities, there is also plenty of room for ball games, walking and picnicking. In winter, the park is a popular sledging spot and throughout the year there are various fairs and events held within.
There is an ambitious proposal to expand the facilities of the park that relies on donations to the project. For more information go to https://friendsofairevillepark.wordpress.com/park-plans.
